About OUTLIER
Every day, seven questions. Each one asks what share of people do, believe or prefer something. You guess a percentage. Reality replies.
“What percentage of people have never broken a bone?” No trivia, no trick wording — just people.
Drag the dot or type a number. Once it's locked, it's locked. No do-overs.
See the real answer, how far off you were, and how everyone else guessed.
Each question is worth up to 1,000 points: score = round(1000 × (1 − |guess − actual| / 100)). Guess 65 when the answer is 60 and you get 950. Seven questions, 7,000 points maximum. There are no bonuses, multipliers or lucky breaks — accuracy is the whole game, and every score is calculated on our server.
We’re all trapped inside our own heads. We assume our friends are typical, our habits are normal, and our opinions are popular. Psychologists call it the false consensus effect. OUTLIER is a two-minute daily workout against it. The players who do best aren’t the ones who know facts — they’re the ones who can imagine lives that aren’t their own.
Every published question is tied to a real, publicly available survey. For each one we record:
You’ll see the source under every answer. An editor checks the number against the source before a question can be published — our database will literally refuse to publish a question that’s missing its sourcing. We prefer established pollsters and research organisations that publish their methods. Where a survey asked a slightly different question, we word ours to match theirs rather than the other way around.
Survey results are estimates with margins of error, and they describe the people who were asked at the time they were asked. Treat the “actual” numbers as the best available measurement, not eternal truth. Spotted a mistake? Tell us and we’ll fix it.
A new OUTLIER appears every day at midnight Pacific time — the same seven questions for everyone, in the same order. Finish all seven to extend your streak. Miss a day and the streak starts over (the longest one stays on your profile forever).
The daily game is free. If you want to support it, OUTLIER PLUS adds archive mode for past days, cosmetic extras and deeper personal stats — never points or answers. Occasionally a day may carry one clearly labelled sponsor line. That’s it: no pop-ups, no selling your data.
